Rebecca is currently the global communications director at a peace-building and conflict transformation NGO, based in East Africa. Before this in Switzerland, she was the innovation communication specialist at UNICEF's HQ, responsible for coordinating global campaigns and training staff globally and the digital and communication consultant at the International Bureau of Education, focusing on education topics including technology, global citizenship, gender and youth. She is in the global communication talent pool at UNICEF.
Prior to this, she was in Kenya and Uganda implementing technology in education (Camara Education), leading the media relations for a healthcare social enterprise (Living Goods, winner of the 2015 Save the Children Healthcare Innovation Award) and organising Startup Education Weekend to empower social entrepreneurs to find technology solutions to Kenya's most pressing education challenges (Spire Education). She was offered the role of CEO at Camara.
She has won international awards for PR and media relations for the UK's school health food revolution, the first North American Innovation Achievement Award for an ambassador programme to build young people's business skills using social media as its main tool (out of 2,600 universities), as well as the Startup Weekend Global Award 2016 (out of 49 countries) from Techstars.
